Sound And Audio Equipment
Given how sound works, you can now begin to understand how to find audio equipment that’s worth while. There are a number of companies that create audio equipment that supposedly helps give you a more “pure” sound experience. Many of these companies, however, are selling you a false bill of goods. You can tell this by whether or not they claim that the cables or the cable connections make a difference in the sound quality. Since sound is the creation of vibrations, there’s no possible way that the cables or cable connection would have an effect on the sound quality. After all, as long as the information can be passed from one source to another, the information is going to be passed along.
Instead, the difference in sound quality is a matter of the speakers being used. The speakers are what causes the vibration, after all. When sound goes from the MP3 player, or the radio, or whatever other sound player you use, it gets processed by the speakers. The speakers then vibrate in an appropriate way as to cause the sound that’s being played. This is why higher quality speakers do make better sounds, where as lower quality speakers often sound muddled, grainy, or have a light static.
However, even this has an upper limit. While you certainly want good quality speakers, there’s a limit to how high quality speakers can be. Generally, as long as the speakers are quality enough to vibrate solidly, without shaking or stuttering, they’ll deliver the sound in a perfectly functional way. There’s no need to pay insane amounts of money in order to get better sound quality. In general, mid-range speakers and headphones will work just fine. If you want a more pure sound, then you’ll have to bypass electronic replication all together, and simply hear the sound live and in person.
Acoustic science is an incredibly interesting field, and new discoveries are being made every day. It’s even possible that new technology will soon be created that really will make the quality of cables have an impact on the quality of the sound. However, we’re not there yet, and it’s important to remember that. Instead, look for things that are reasonably priced, and you’ll be able to hear your sound just fine. No need to go breaking the bank, after all!
